Notice to All Electrical Contractor Permit Holders & Current Registered Journeyman

ATTENTION ALL ELECTRICAL CONTRACTOR PERMIT HOLDERS & CURRENT REGISTERED QUALIFIED JOURNEYMAN


Dear Licensee,

Please be advised that pursuant to N.J.S.A. 45:5A-11.1 et. seq, all current registered qualified journeyman will be converted to Class A Journeyman Electrician effective January 31, 2023. The Board of Examiners of Electrical Contractors (Board) will automatically convert the current registration to the new license type, which will be mailed to the registrant’s current address of record.

There are no fees required at this time. Any new applicants will need to apply for the Class A Journeyman Electrician license applicable fee will be required.

Please note that as a condition of the renewal of the Class A Journeyman Electrician license, the licensee will be required to complete a total of 15 continuing education units (CEUs) each 3 year triannual licensure cycle. The CEUs must be from 1/1/2021 to 12/31/2024 within the current cycle. The most recent edition of the National Electrical Code.
