Member Spotlight: Timothy Sullivan of All Services Mechanical and Electrical

The NJIEC is proud to highlight the dedicated members who make up our community of electricians and contractors across New Jersey. This month, we’re featuring Timothy Sullivan of All Services Mechanical and Electrical, a seasoned professional with nearly two decades of experience in the field.

Finding His Path in the Trades

For Timothy, the electrical trade wasn’t something he stumbled into—it was a path suggested by someone who knew him best: his father. “My father was in the trades and knew college wasn’t for me,” Timothy shared. “I’m lucky he knew better and suggested it to me.” That guidance led him to a career that has spanned 18 years so far, starting when he was just 19 years old.

Like many in the trade, his first day was a reality check. “I thought I’d be installing receptacles and lights in houses. Instead, I was carrying 4-inch rigid pipe around all day—it was a far cry from anything I imagined.”

Joining the NJIEC

Though Timothy has only been a personal member of NJIEC for two months, his company has been involved much longer. Even in this short time, he’s already seen how valuable the community can be.

“Getting insight from like-minded people in the business and learning from them has been huge. I wouldn’t have my license today if it wasn’t for an IEC member,” he said. That sense of mentorship and shared knowledge has not only helped his career but has shaped the way he gives back to others in the field.

Proud Moments in the Field

Timothy recalls a project where his experience made a big impact—not just for a customer, but for a fellow electrician.

“I showed up to a service call where another electrician was already working. I was going to leave, but he admitted he wasn’t familiar with troubleshooting the issue. I took some time to point him in the right direction and showed him the procedure. Later, he called to thank me after he was able to resolve the problem.”

It’s a story that reflects Timothy’s philosophy: being willing to share knowledge and support others, just as others supported him.

An Evolving Industry

When asked how the electrical trade has evolved since he started, Timothy pointed to one major shift: safety. “I think most importantly, people take safety more seriously every year,” he said. With stricter codes, better training, and improved equipment, the emphasis on safety has made the industry stronger and more sustainable for the next generation of electricians.

For those just starting out, Timothy’s advice is simple but powerful.  “Ask a lot of questions and take interest in what’s going on.”  Curiosity and a willingness to learn are key ingredients to building a successful career in the trades.

Looking Ahead

When he’s not on the job, Timothy’s time is dedicated to what matters most: family. With a wife and three young kids, most of his free time is spent at home or visiting loved ones.  Timothy’s path is a reminder of the value of mentorship, perseverance, and community. From his early days in the field to his continued growth with All Services Mechanical and Electrical, his story reflects what makes the NJIEC community so strong—electricians who learn from one another, support each other, and stay committed to excellence.

We’re proud to have Timothy as part of NJIEC and look forward to seeing his continued impact on the industry.
